Two
million people face famine in Chad
Cereal production was estimated to have declined
by 34 percent in Chad compared to 2008. Pastures had also
been seriously affected, with forage production significantly
below requirements, and a death rate of about 31 percent for
cattle was reported last year. Declining cereal production
together with the poor pasture conditions and high food prices
"has led to high food insecurity and increased malnutrition
in Chad, where some two million people need food

Barh Koh ESDA
Barh Koh Environment and Sustainable Development Aid
(Barh Koh ESDA) is an international Non-Profit, Charitable and
Apolitical Organization based in Toronto, Canada. The organization
was founded in June 2001 by a group of volunteers who were concerned
about environmental degradation and deplorable poverty in many
parts ofAfrica. Its objective is to relieve poverty in Chad
and in other disadvantaged countries, through practical and
sensible programs, taking into consideration environmental and
socio-political factors for a long-term sustainable development
