The education system is Chad has been in decline since
the onset of the civil war in 1979. Today, the education
system is still marked by poor performance, precarious nature
of classrooms (65 percent are made of non-durable materials),
obsolete teaching programs, and lack of adequate textbooks.
Computer literacy has yet to reach high schools and grade
schools in southern Chad.
In order to help improve the education system in Chad,
Barh Koh ESDA has implemented a long-term project to:
(a) Procure and distribute chool supplies to poor rural
students.
(b) Procure and distribute clothing to poor rural students
who cannot afford decent clothing to wear in school
(c) Introduce computer literacy in rural high schools in
southern Chad
(d) Develop feeding programs in rural schools to feed students
from poor families, and those who are orphans
(e) Help improve local public schools facilities, such
as libraries and classrooms by providing construction material
and/or funds toward upgrading or building these failities
