Community healthcare prOJECT

Rural communities throughout Chad lack adequate medical facilities, medicine and supplies to treat the most common illnesses. Because of the scarcity of healthcare centres and medicine, patients in rural areas are often transported hundreds of Kms to the nearest centre for treatments.

Barh Koh ESDA’s project to help improve the public healthcare system in the rural communities of southern Chad of the following:

(1) Acquiring medicine and medical supplies in need, and shipping them to Chad

(2) Distribution medicine and medical supplies to existing public medical facilities, as well as coordinating their distribution with the local health authorities to local communities where there is no healthcare facility

(3) Developing a comprehensive healthcare outreach program tailored for rural communities, and

(4) Conducting local workshops on basic hygiene and preventive healthcare for AIDS and other transmitted diseases, and basic sanitation practices to help improve the living conditions and the quality of life.
