The lack of access to modern energy source leads to heavy dependency on firewood, which in turn leads to deforestation and desertification of the fragile Chadian ecosystems. Absolute Poverty in Chad: A Human Rights Dilemma
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights stipulated that everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and his family including housing, clean water and food. But nearly 60 years after its proclamation, many nations of Africa remain dirt poor, sadly crippled by extreme poverty, malnutrition, diseases, civil strife and ethnic discrimination. The shameful living conditions in Chad call for immediate new strategies and concrete sustainable actions to lift the country out of poverty
